Artisans will be able to show their work and visitors will have the best showcase of handicrafts where they can get 'what is ours', a unique and representative product of our ancestral roots” said Ana Maria Fries, General Manager of Handicrafts of Colombia.

In Expoartesanías 2018, visitors can get to know the origins and traditions of Colombia in 4 pavilions: ‘Innovación y diseño’ (Innovation and Design), ‘Cocina de origen’ (Traditional Cuisine), ‘Bocados de origen’ (Traditional Snacks), ‘Artesanía tradicional y moda’ (Traditional Crafts and Fashion), ‘Artesanía étnica’ (Ethnic Crafts), ‘Diseño Colombia’ (Colombian Design), ‘Artesanía contemporánea’ (Contemporary Crafts) and ‘Joyería – bisutería’ (Jewelry). In addition, there will be a fifth space dedicated to international crafts called  ‘Artesanías del mundo’ where 19 countries will show the best of their culture.

One of the novelties of the fair is a collection of 63 masks made by the Inga and Kamëntsá communities of the Sibundoy Valley, in Putumayo. Each one of the pieces has a story to tell about the beliefs of these indigenous communities. Some have been preserved for many years and others show innovations processes made by three emblematic artisans: William Diego Chicunque, Carlos Mutumbajoy and Ángel Marino Jacanamijoy.

To make the experience complete , and to get to know how crafts are made, what materials are used and which stories they tell, there will be demonstrations of artisanal trades in a space called ‘Rueda de Saberes’, in pavillion 1. Visitors will see, for example, how to make clay molding crafts, chiseling and embossing on leather, Wayuú weaving and stone carving. Moreover, could attend to educational talks of topics related to crafts.

This will be a space for the exchange of knowledge and commercial experiences.

87 productive processes will participate in the meeting, in this occasion including the Afro-Colombian (NARP) and gypsy (RROM) communities of the country.
