Bogotá will be headquarters of smart city expo to promote smart and sustainable development in the capital of the count

• Under the slogan 'Cities that Care, Cities that Innovate', the event seeks to position cities as catalysts for the connection between the quality of life of their inhabitants and urban innovation.

• This event comes to the capital of the country as the platform for innovation and articulation for the establishment of smart cities in Colombia and the Region.

• The appointment will be in Corferias from May 31 to June 2, 2023.

Bogotá, February 2023. The Mayor's Office of Bogotá, Smart City Expo World Congress, Fira Barcelona International, the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce and Corferias, come together as strategic allies to bring to the country an edition of Smart City Expo Abroads, the international event leader in smart cities that has become the nerve center for discussion and learning on this subject.

The event that will take place between May 31 and June 2, 2023 in the Colombian capital is part of the comprehensive commitment of the District Mayor's Office for the presentation of strategic projects Bogotá - Region and a scenario of articulation of Mayors, National Government and nearby countries to find smart solutions that improve the quality of life of citizens and promote the development of a more inclusive and sustainable society.

Faced with the realization of this event, Andrés López Valderrama, executive president of Corferias, affirmed that "for the first time in Bogotá we will bring together the public and private sector with urban representatives at a global, regional and local level, leaders, academic institutions, research centers, incubators, entrepreneurs and corporations, so that they talk about the challenges, advances and join efforts in favor of smart cities. We will have international speakers and recognized leaders, who will be on the academic agenda and in the Congress”.

“For this new edition of Smart City Expo, we want Bogotá to be the regional epicenter of innovation, to demonstrate work on the quality of life of its citizens and to promote the development of a more inclusive and sustainable society, under models of collective intelligence. This is a stage to socialize the legacies of the Mayor's Office in terms of new and best smart mobility practices; energy and environment; territorial planning; public innovation; competitiveness and use of technological enablers”, said Claudia López, mayoress of Bogotá.

This will be the platform to position the vision of the city, its progress, challenges and learning focused on new social dynamics, based on inclusion, innovation, sustainability, trust and competitiveness.

Corferias, recognized as the most important and emblematic fairground in Colombia, will be the scene of this edition of the fair that is committed to becoming a platform for sustainable development, turning Bogotá and the region into a smart city, where leaders and teams meet executors of decisions and projects in favor of transformation, based on knowledge, technology, data, innovation and knowledge.

These will be some of the themes of Smart City Expo Bogotá:

Smart Technologies: connectivity, cybersecurity, emerging technologies, human talent, artificial intelligence, 5G and Internet of Things, among others.

Urban Mobility: analysis sessions on new tools and technologies that allow behavior change towards more sustainable urban mobility. Multimodal integration, micro mobility and shared mobility, new policies and infrastructure redesign.

Economic Development: challenges, advances and projections. Smart cities are a vindication of their creative power, the creation of spatial conditions, resources, and relationships to multiply this innovative power of agglomerations in a smart city that seeks to ensure the conditions for job creation and economic activity.

Public Innovation: practices, solutions and tools implemented locally to offer better services and help citizens understand the context in which they live. Debate on data management and active technology, as well as ideas and actions to promote new forms of institutional action at the local level, new dynamics of collaboration and citizen participation, transparency and open government.

Energy and Environment: seeks to explore the most current debates on sustainability, including examples of solutions and initiatives on green areas, energy transition and mitigation, and what are the efforts of local authorities and experts for a healthier future that leads the climate transition.

Sustainable Territories: equity in its multiple facets, the role of public institutions in government, management and planning of cities and territories for their sustainability, or the factors that enable the city as a space of conflict and tension, as well as encounter and care.
