Autofest 2025 accelerates confidence and recovery in the automotive sector in the Colombian Caribbean

Barranquilla, November 2025. With a message of optimism and coordination between the public and private sectors, Corferias Caribe and Fenalco Barranquilla present the ninth edition of Autofest 2025, a showcase that reaffirms Barranquilla as the automotive epicenter of the Colombian Caribbean and the engine of the region's economic recovery.

The main spokespersons for Autofest have recently highlighted the positive figures currently being presented by the automotive sector and the renewed confidence of consumers, which is driving the purchase of new, hybrid, and electric vehicles in the country.

An event that promotes development and mobility

The District Secretary of Transportation, Yaciris Cantillo Romero, highlights Barranquilla's role as a leading city in modern and sustainable mobility:

“Barranquilla is a city that is growing, advancing, and moving to another level. When the license plate says ‘Barranquilla,’ we contribute directly to local progress, the maintenance of our roads, and the quality of life of all citizens,” she says.

Cantillo also highlights the District's investments in road infrastructure, signage, and traffic lights, as well as the importance of continuing to strengthen road safety education and the partnership between the public and private sectors to improve urban mobility.

Incentives that encourage responsible purchasing

Otilia Ordóñez Pérez, head of the Traffic Registry Office, explains the benefits for those who register their vehicles in the city:

“We offer immediate pre-assignment of license plates and discounts of up to 50% on traffic fees. In addition, hybrid and electric vehicles are 100% exempt from stamp duty and traffic fees during the first year,” she said.

The official emphasizes that Barranquilla has a highly trained team to ensure a streamlined and efficient registration process, which strengthens the confidence of dealers and buyers.

From the Atlántico Governor's Office, Damaris Perdomo, Motor Vehicle Tax Coordinator, highlights the economic impact of Autofest in the region:

“After the 2024 fair, we registered between 600 and 800 new registrations. This year, we expect to exceed that figure, with tax benefits that reduce the tax on electric and hybrid vehicles by 30% during the first five years,” she explained.

The official invites buyers to register their vehicles in the department, reminding them that each contribution drives investment projects in roads and education at the regional level.

A joint effort that boosts the economy

The executive director of Fenalco Barranquilla, Yilda Castro, celebrates the sector's results and the coordination between entities and entrepreneurs:

“Autofest is a showcase that began in Barranquilla and now drives the automotive industry throughout the Caribbean. National registrations grew by 29%, in Barranquilla by 35%, and in Atlántico by 31%. This shows that consumer confidence is returning,” he said.

Castro also acknowledges the support of local authorities in facilitating procedures for dealerships and highlights the role of the media as key allies in promoting the fair.

Finally, Juan Esteban Pérez, executive director of Corferias Caribe, emphasizes that Autofest 2025 comes at a key moment for the Colombian automotive sector:

"Colombia is about to reach the 2019 sales peak again, with nearly 260,000 new vehicles. This not only reflects the reactivation of the market, but also the confidence that drives consumption and investment," he said.

Pérez highlighted that the fair brings together more than 70 brands, 60 dealerships, and 11 financial institutions, offering visitors an ideal space to compare, decide, and purchase a new vehicle with the best conditions on the market.

“Autofest 2025 is an invitation to embrace confidence and progress. This event reflects the dynamism that characterizes Barranquilla and the Caribbean, and the power of cooperation between the public and private sectors,” he concluded.

The fair will take place from November 6 to 9 at the Puerta de Oro Event Center, where the public can learn about the latest trends in mobility, take test drives, and access financing plans with preferential rates.
