Kingdom of Morocco will arrive to Expoartesanías with an ancient city to live its culture

From December 4th to 17th, in Corferias, the Kingdom of Morocco will be the guest of honor in the XXIX edition of Expoartesanías, as a celebration of 40 years of diplomatic relations with Colombia.
It will have a space of 1000 square meters in which the work that is done by the artisans of this region of the world will be lived, through the assembly of a Medina, an old part of the Moroccan city, which will house artisan workshops and that will show visitors their ancestral knowledge, especially in brass crafts, leather goods, traditional carpet weaving, wood painting and jewelry, among others.
This participation is possible thanks to the initiative and collaboration of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Colombia, the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism, Air Transport, Handicrafts and Social Economy as well as the Craftsman's House of Morocco.
Farida Loudaya, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco in Colombia, stated: “When touring this Medina specially recreated for this occasion the representation of this Moroccan city, the visitor will be able to embark in a deep journey, through the different regions of the Kingdom of Morocco and know the diversity and originality of their crafts; in addition to its music, traditional costumes and the unique flavors of its culinary art, its architecture and the most fabulous decorative elements, such as the fountains, doors and windows that were brought exclusively to Expoartesanías”.
She added that the participation in the international event reflects the excellence of the bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Colombia, which will allow to have an exceptional 40-year celebration of the countries´ friendship. "We are delighted to be able to share with our Colombian friends our great ancestral artisan and cultural heritage during this event".
For his part, Andrés López Valderrama, executive president of Corferias, said it is an honor for Colombia to receive and share all the richness of Moroccan tradition and art, while celebrating the four decades of excellent diplomatic relations with the African country. "We are very happy to have the Kingdom of Morocco as the guest of honor in this edition of Expoartesanías."
For the general manager of Handicrafts of Colombia, Ana María Fríes, having the Kingdom of Morocco as a guest of honor will allow attendees not only to travel to that beautiful country through the staging of an ancient city, but also to learn from its culture and tradition "It is important to share knowledge and techniques because in this type of meetings you always learn and develop good practices, protect your identity and understand cultural diversity."
“With great enthusiasm we participate in this wonderful meeting, together with the 800 Colombian exhibitors, who, through artisanal creations and their cultural diversity, will undoubtedly be the best ambassadors of their regions. I am convinced that the meetings between Moroccan and Colombian artisans that will be held during the fourteen days of this important event will lead to new cooperation initiatives between both countries in this area”, said the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco.
In addition, in another pavilion, there will be a large international representation composed of 78 companies from 20 countries, who will visit us with their representative samples of furniture, jewelry, ceramics, clothing, textiles, decoration and gastronomy, among others. India, Pakistan, Iran, Mexico and Peru have the largest participation.
Since its creation in 1991, this international event has become a platform for the promotion and dissemination of the great Colombian knowledge that allows artisans, both Colombian and foreign, to project in regional and international markets.
